A Reading Nook

We have this closet downstairs that has been used for many things when I was pregnant we used to store baby stuff we were purchasing/receiving, then baby arrived and we used to to store a play yard and such, then he was in playing mode and we put pushing toys and an easel in there.....But it never really felt right to me. The type A is me yelled every time I opened that door to what I perceived as wasted space. Then it occurred to me.......DUH!!!! That is the perfect place to go an be with your books, by your I of course mean the Prince Blakey, the one to which everything belongs and the earth revolves. Pinterest has changed my life, is that over dramatic? I once again got most of the bits and pieces ideas from pinning.
A "B" made from book pages to place on the door.

His pottery barn chair has finally found the perfect place, and a bed canopy from ikea that I made not so sheer by adding and ikea curtain panel.

I keep some of his literary characters in there to play with as we read. Yes it's true we hate pants in this house!!!

Have I mentioned we have an obscene amount of books in this house, I am pretty sure we could open a small neighborhood library. This is just a small sampling of books that I plan to rotate out with books stored in his playroom. I always loved the idea of displaying books this way but never really knew where in the house that would work. Until now! My friend Stephanie found these shelves at Ikea and used them in her playroom. Do you know Steph, she is AMAZING and has an amazing blog here. By the way he is picking Knuffle Bunny Free in this picture a book we read daily, if you don't have the Knuffle Bunny series you are missing out, they are awesome.

The other wall I used those same shelves to display puzzles and more books, and to place his oil drip pan alphabet board, another pin. Does your kid love those 3.99 early reading soft cover books? Mine does and we have way too many so I just put them in those numbered bins, which is where I found out all that counting to Blake was paying off when he counted them out to me.

I made a paper banner for bub birthday but never have made a fabric banner so I figured I would try with some scraps, I just winged it and it turned out a little messy but I know what not to do next time.

So that is the reading nook, he loves it mostly we go in there together and cuddle and read, or he will hide behind the canopy while I read and give me kisses through the mesh ;)
