Blake at 19 months.....
1. Talks and talks and talks! He will find an older kid anywhere he can and walk up to them and start a "conversation." It seems like he adds new words everyday some of his newest additions are
teeth
elmo
"tweet tweet" as in what a bird says
2. Loves to make animal noises like dog, cat, bird, snake, cow, horse, sheep, lion (roar), pig
3. Is obsessed with the ABC's and letters in general, we sing the ABC's about 20 times a day and he asks anyone and everyone to sing them. And whenever there are big signs at his level he points to all the letters.
4. Favorite yoga pose is down dog which he does a lot
5. We spend about 45 - 60 minutes a night doing our bedtime routine, we read, nurse, cuddle, I rub his back and feet, and we talk face to face and he gives lots of kisses and Eskimo kisses. Even though by the end of the day I am exhausted this time is so precious and I try to remind myself he won't always want to snuggle to sleep with his mama.
6. These last couple months have been a little rough and rocky. He has a definite alpha male personality and combine that with being a toddler and you get a little boy who still can't efficiently communicate what he wants and he can become frustrated and aggressive towards other kids. We have taken a break from all his weekly activities until this has passed enough and he understands that behavior is unacceptable. For my own reference I will explain what we've been doing...we do calm down time if the hitting seems relate to merely frustration, if he is being just plain aggressive and bossy we do a time out whenever we are, we read calm down time and hands are not for hitting books A LOT, and we have recently started taking deep breaths and saying "Om", or "1 2 3 I'm taking acre of me"
7. He still is nursing and in the last couple months he has picked back up all the daytime feedings he had previously dropped. I go with it since if he feels he needs it, whether emotionally or physically, that's what I will do.
One of his favorite breakfasts is oatmeal with stewed apples and so here he is helping mommy make yet another batch of stewed apples.
He loves his basketball and hoop, and we say "dunk it" and he does. He then walks around either saying "ball" or duuuunnk"
He has become quite the explorer
He loves bubbles or "bub" as he says, he can actually blow his own bubbles but he holds it right up to his mouth.
