Newborn Pictures

Well our family photographer went and got all pregnant right around the same time as me and was busy  being days away from giving birth when Savannah was ready for her newborn session so.... I was left to do it myself since the husband refuses to work with any other photographer. I did them one afternoon at Memaw's house when she was 12 days old, it was a super bright day but options are limited with a peaceful newborn, you take what you can get.

I knew exactly what piece I wanted to use, this gorgeous old ragged stool my Mom's GrandDaddy Teck built. I never met him and she loved him so much...so it just felt right.

And listen when you can fit your baby is a bowl you just do....

Savannah Grace Johnson

On July 1st after a dramatic day of pondering the option of a c-section due to her size and giving my body the chance to do it's job we decided to let them break my water and see what happens. 2 hours later she was here and completed our little family. She came out so fast they said she was stunned and she did not cry immediately but about 1 minute later let it loose and has been bossing us around ever since. We are so grateful and feel eternally blessed to have her after 15 weeks of bed rest and complications galore. She weighed in at a healthy 8 pounds 8 ounces and 19 1/4 inches long.

We call her Savie and Blake only calls her baby sister. Blake has proven since day 1 to be the best big brother, he is constantly asking "Baby Sister are you alright?" he must know where she is at all times, and if anybody other than Mommy and Daddy are holding her he makes it known that is not acceptable.

She looks just like her brother did with just a couple extra pounds.

This is Brooke our doula and thank goodness she was there, this labor was no joke and despite being only 2 hours long was much more painful than Blake's 4 hour long labor.

She shot out of there like a bullet and was a little beat up.

We got to go home about 36 hours later and Blake and Daddy came to pick us up. Blake was excited to see Mommy but did not like the hospital setting and quickly wanted to leave.

 Heading home.

Blake opening his big brother gifts from Baby Savie.

We have adjusted as well as can be expected and the transition has been much less traumatic than I ever expected for everybody involved.

Baby's First Haircut!

By baby of course I mean a 3.5 year old who has never once had scissors near his hair. I loved those long, blonde, sometimes shaggy baby curls. It was one of the last baby things about him. Yes everybody called him a "beautiful girl," yes his hair bothered him most days, but I did not care I loved them!

But I knew it was time, it probably had been time a while ago. So when Aunt Rachael came down from NYC to take care of Blake and I while Daddy was away a few days we discussed cutting his hair. When it really came down to it I still was not ready and tried to back out, that however did not work with my husband and sister both insisting it was time.

I sobbed and sobbed and sobbed, like chest heaving sobs for the whole day. I would never play with those baby curls again and it hurt.

Now I feel much better, he is still gorgeous and loves his short hair. But for this pregnant mama it was a rough day!

He actually did a lot better than I expected, he played on the phone and ate cookies.

Easter 2013

Easter this year was a little different, by Easter I was on bed rest and unable to do anything really (minus watch a lot of The Bible mini series, so good!) All festivities were up to Daddy and Memaw and I could only observe.

Dying eggs with Daddy in his underwear of course, the kid hates clothes!
He was all about it this year, and asked to color more eggs the next day. Which they did.

 From the Easter Bunny.
Come time for the easter egg hunt Blake was more interested in hanging out and playing on his swing set.

Until he realized the Easter Bunny had stuffed the eggs with toys.

This happened to be the first time in weeks I had even picked up my camera.

Our Two February Holidays....

Valentine's Day!

And Daddy's Birthday!
